The City of Belton is currently proposing the adoption of a Rental Inspection Program for rental units in the city limits. Proposed program details can be found in the Rental Inspection Program handout(PDF, 163KB), which details the purpose and inspection process. The proposed program may be revised based on community feedback and reviews by the Code Enforcement Advisory Committee and City Council. Program updates will be posted on this page as they become available. If approved, the Program is anticipated to take effect on October 1, 2023.

City staff held a community meeting to discuss the proposed Rental Inspection Program on Thursday, January 19, 2023 in the Community Room at the Belton Police Department. Citizen feedback is important to assist staff, the Code Enforcement Advisory Committee, and City Council with the drafting and decision-making process. Thank you to everyone who participated in the community meeting and responded to the community survey.

Responsibilities:

The Planning Commission is a board appointed by the Mayor with approval from the City Council. This commission is responsible for the development of the Unified Development Code and the Comprehensive Plan. The commission also makes recommendations to the City Council concerning new developments, zoning changes, and text amendments. The Planning Commission is primarily involved in city land use issues.
