Before opening a business in Belton, you will need to complete the required licensing process, inspections and fees. Additional requirements may apply depending on the type of business.
Business license applications are submitted through the City's eTRAKiT portal. The Licensing Department will communicate with you through email and your eTRAKiT account throughout the review process.
Applications are reviewed by Community Development, Public Works and the Licensing Department.
When your business site is set up and ready for business, please call to schedule the fire and building inspections. These are required before opening. We recommend calling 7-10 days in advance.

Inspections are required for new businesses. If there are no changes that require additional review, the annual business license renewal fee is $70.

You can apply for a Belton Liquor License in eTRAKiT. A state and City annual liquor license is required before selling alcohol in Belton.
Your business license will be issued after all required reviews, inspections, application materials and fees have been completed and approved.
Once the license is issued, the Licensing Department will notify you by email. Your business license will be available to download through your eTRAKiT account.
Home occupations are permitted as accessory use in residential dwellings or in residential accessory structures. Regulations and operating standards are listed in the Unified Development Code Section 40-4(34). No business license from the City of Belton is required for a no-impact occupation. Some examples include professional offices, online businesses, salon/barber services, massage therapy, and tutors/music lessons. No-impact businesses are still required to comply with city code and applicable state and federal requirements. Depending on your type of business, this may include the following.
Business services that are provided off-site (i.e. away from your home) require a Belton business license. Some examples include construction, electrical, plumbing, and HVAC.
State licensed home daycares are required to have a Belton business license and meet any additional special use requirements, as approved by the City Council.
