Belton Water Services is mailing letters to some residents as part of the Water Service Line Inventory required by the Missouri Department of Natural Resources (MoDNR).
The Water Service Line Inventory is an effort to identify the materials used in both public and private water service lines. The inventory helps water utilities maintain accurate records and comply with state and federal drinking water requirements.
Letters are being mailed only to addresses where additional information is needed to identify the material of the water service line. Residents who do not receive a letter do not need to take any action, as Belton Water Services already has the necessary information for their address.
Residents who receive a letter are encouraged to review the instructions and submit the requested information. If the service line material cannot be identified, residents should still return the form and indicate that the material could not be determined.
In some cases, additional follow-up may be needed to verify service line material. Belton Water Services may contact residents or visit properties to gather the information needed to complete the inventory. If the material cannot be confirmed through available records or visual inspection, additional identification methods may be necessary.
More information about the Water Service Line Inventory, including resources to help identify service line materials and answers to frequently asked questions, is available on the Water Service Line Notification webpage.
