1. What inspired you to run for public office?
Growing up in a small town in Michigan, I was heavily involved in my church and local Scout Troop, eventually earning the prestigious rank of Eagle Scout. This experience taught me the importance of community and instilled in me a sense of civic duty that has carried with me throughout my life.
2. What are your top priorities or goals for the community during your term?
My guiding principle is to do what is best for the community of Belton. That starts with ensuring that essential services are delivered efficiently, professionally and consistently. This includes responsible fiscal budgeting that ensures we continue to achieve lower water bills, maintain our roads and infrastructure and support first responders. I am a strong advocate for government transparency and will continue to advocate for public visibility. From a big-picture standpoint, I want to see smart growth that supports small businesses and local festivals, adds amenities to the area and preserves our community’s character.
3. What do you love most about our city?
The small-town country living feel with big city amenities.
4. What past experiences or roles have best prepared you for this position?
As a kid in Scouts, my Eagle Scout service project introduced disc golf to my hometown and secured local City Council approval to design, raise funds and install a disc golf course in the local park. Professionally, I hold an education in psychology, human resources and labor relations and I am trained in negotiations (including union negotiations), salary and budget planning, employment law and investigations.
