Markey Parkway Extension

The Markey Parkway Extension is the first big east/west road through the north part of Belton. This will be a major project for the area and will continue to help spur development for the City.

This project is being done in conjunction with federal funding. The funding split is 80% from federal funding and the remaining 20% is from the City.

Update Week of May 23

Concrete paving continued and another lane was poured. QT Way had both pavement and curbs poured. This coming week, mainline paving will likely be completed, leaving turn lanes, hand pours and curbs. 

Update Week of May 19

Concrete paving began and two outer lanes were completed.

Update Week of May 5

Grading work is still underway. Subgrade trimming has also began and concrete paving should begin next week. 

Update Week of April 21

Grading work is ongoing. Miles Excavating completed storm sewer installs, aside from N. Scott work, which should be completed in a few weeks. All existing pavement removal work has been completed. 

Update Week of April 14

Grading work is still underway and Spire and Evergy have completed utility relocation work. Miles Excavating is continuing to install storm sewers and is about 2-weeks from completion. 

Existing pavement has been removed and the curb and median nose has been poured at 520 Markey. The church temporary entrance was opened last week. 

Update Week of April 7

Grading and utility relocation is continuing this week. Miles Excavating is working to install storm sewers to the north and west.

Update Week of March 24

Grading work is continuing this week. Spire and Evergy are working on utility relocation, with Spire expected to complete in a week and Evergy about two weeks from completion. 

Miles Excavating is installing storm sewers to the north and west and has also poured back the concrete pavement adjacent to 520 Markey, along with the curb. Work has started to remove the pavement near the church entrance. The temporary entrance for the church has been constructed and will be open next week. 

Update Week of March 17

Markey Parkway has closed to thru traffic at the Hobby Lobby entrance up to Quick Trip Way and will remain closed for approximately three months.

Grading work continued this week. Spire is working on gas main relocation and is about 1.5 weeks from completion. Evergy is planning to begin relocation work next week and this is expected to take two weeks. Miles Excavating began concrete pipe installation.

Topsoil stripping has started and Evergy and Spire are working on relocation of utility lines. The relocation work is expected to take approximately two weeks.
