Planning Commission

Public hearings give applicants, residents, and other interested parties the opportunity to review project applications and provide comments to staff and the designated Board/Commission reviewing the application. A public hearing is required to be held by the Planning Commission for the following applications: rezoning, special use permit, preliminary development plan, and vacation. A public hearing is required to be held by the Board of Zoning Adjustment for applications for variances. Meeting agendas for Planning Commission and Board of Zoning Adjustment will indicate if an application will have a public hearing and the order of the public hearing on the agenda.

Upcoming public hearings include the following applications:  

Tuesday, July 16, 2024 Planning Commission meeting (6:00 PM, 520 Main St. - City Hall Annex)

  • An application submitted by Brian Forquer with NorthPoint Development, to request approval of a Rezoning from “R-1” (Single Family Residential) to “R-1 PUD” (Single Family Residential Planned Unit Development) zoning, and approval of a Preliminary Development Plan for 41 single family lots and common tracts generally located between 155th St. and 157th St., west of White Dr. (to be known as “Southview Residential,” formally “Sunset Hills 3rd Plat”) (This application has been requested to be continued to the August 6, 2024 Planning Commission to allow additional time for revisions).

Tuesday, August 6, 2024 Planning Commission meeting (6:00 PM, 520 Main St. - City Hall Annex)

  • An application submitted by Brian Forquer with NorthPoint Development, to request approval of a Rezoning from “R-1” (Single Family Residential) to “R-1 PUD” (Single Family Residential Planned Unit Development) zoning, and approval of a Preliminary Development Plan for 41 single family lots and common tracts generally located between 155th St. and 157th St., west of White Dr. (to be known as “Southview Residential,” formally “Sunset Hills 3rd Plat”) (This application was requested to be continued from the July 16, 2024 Planning Commission).
  • An application submitted by the City of Belton, to request approval of the Vacation of right-of-way and utility easements on property located at the southwest corner of I-49 and E. North Ave. (58 Hwy.).
  • An application submitted by Amy Klein with Lily's Play-N-Stay, to request approval of a Special Use Permit for an animal services - kennel land use in a "C-2" (General Commercial) zoning district at 1016 N. Scott Ave.
  • An application submitted by Community Development staff for the formal presentation and consideration of the adoption of the 2050 Belton Comprehensive Plan.
