Notice of Vacancy on the Belton City Council

The City Council is accepting applications to fill a Councilmember vacancy in Ward 1.

 

The City Council by a majority vote of all its remaining members shall appoint a qualified person to fill the vacancy until the next regular municipal election in April 2024.

 

Applications are being accepted through September 15, 2023, from qualified citizens of Ward 1. Please complete the application and submit it by 5:00 pm on September 15, 2023, to 520 Main St, Belton MO 64012, Attn: City Clerk or email to admin@belton.org.

 

City Council qualifications

  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Must be a registered voter of Ward 1
  • Must be a resident of the City for a minimum of two (2) years
  • Must be a resident of Ward 1 for a minimum of six (6) months
  • Must not be in arrears for any tax, lien, forfeiture or defalcation of office
  • Must not hold any compensated elected governmental office
  • Must not have been convicted of a felony
  • Must not be employed by the City of Belton
