Christmas on Main - Check

Have you experienced Christmas on Main yet? If you haven’t it’s not too late! Merchants will have post-Christmas sales on Friday and Saturday, January 7th and 8th on Main Street.

The first annual Christmas on Main kicked off on Saturday, November 27th with the Mayor’s Christmas Tree lighting and the Main Street Light Spectacular, which lit up all of Main Street. Festivities began with free hot dogs, courtesy of your City Council, and a raffle for gift baskets and gift cards. All proceeds from the raffle benefit the Belton Welfare Association’s Operation Santa, which provides food, toys, and cold weather accessories to families in need in our community.

Rudolph dropped Santa off just in time for the Light Parade. Community partners, local businesses, and citizens joined in the fun and decorated their “floats” in holiday lights for the parade – this was big a hit!

Mayor Larkey presented a check for $10,000 to the Belton Welfare Association for Operation Santa. A big thank you goes out to the citizens, council members, and local businesses for their contributions that made this donation possible.

Santa-House-Crowd

The beautiful weather and festive events drew in the largest crowd that Main Street has ever seen. Santa and Mrs. Claus came all the way from the North Pole to hear Christmas wishes from Belton children. Festivities continued with carolers, selfie stations, shopping, dining, and more.

Christmas on Main events and activities continued throughout the holiday season, including a community ugly sweater contest, live music, a movie on Candy Cane Lane, and holiday story times. Each weekend has been jam packed with holiday cheer for the whole family to enjoy.

The Belton, Grandview, and Kansas City Railroad hosted a Holiday Express with onboard activities in the decorated coach including letters to Santa, holiday music, lights, and trivia.

The Main Street Light Spectacular is sponsored by Downtown Belton Main Street Inc. We can’t wait until next year! Watch our announcements and social media for next year’s date for the 2022 Mayor’s Christmas Tree lighting and all the new Christmas on Main events.
