1. What inspired you to run for public office?

I ran for public office because I wanted to help make things better. I tried to help the people living in Ward 1 and Belton overall gain access to information and have someone to talk to about issues or problems concerning them. I believe local government has a direct impact on people’s everyday lives. Listening to people’s concerns and helping with day-to-day issues, as well as working to impact growth for the community’s betterment positively, are the heart of being a City Council Member.

2. What are your top priorities or goals for the community during your term?

Making Main Street even better than it is now, finding ways to increase available housing and transportation.

3.  What do you love most about our city?

I love that Belton maintains a small-town feel while continuing to grow. Main Street is a significant part of that, providing opportunities for the community to come together. Belton is a great community in which to live and raise a family, offering good schools, parks and public facilities.

4.  What past experiences or roles have best prepared you for this position?

I have been involved in various organizations in leadership positions, which have helped me work with diverse perspectives and positions to bring people together for the common good.

5. How can residents get involved or share their concerns with you?

I can be reached by telephone 816.806.3669 or by email at pjohnson@belton.org.
