Belton, Missouri is the commerce center of Cass County, Missouri. Belton Gateway is the City’s flagship retail and mixed-use project. National retailers such as Ross Dress for Less, Marshalls, Petco, Party City and Five Below opened new locations at Belton Gateway in 2018. Additional recent restaurant expansions include Panera Bread, Kneaders Bakery, Cracker Barrel, and Hawaiian Bros Island Grill.


Panera Bread

Panera Bread set to open metro’s first Generation IV restaurant

New Belton location includes larger footprint, drive-thru, technology upgrades and modern farmhouse décor

Panera Bread will open the Kansas City region’s first Generation IV restaurant in Belton on June 8, 2018. The 6,000-square foot restaurant located at 1211 E. North Ave. in Belton Marketplace is about 10 percent larger than previous Panera Bread locations and includes an outdoor patio and dining area, as well as drive-thru.

The new farmhouse-themed restaurant will offer a “five-fecta” of services, providing an enhanced customer experience with amenities such as delivery service and catering, ordering kiosks, drive-thru and rapid pickup of items.

The Belton Panera location is operated by Pan American Group, which is hiring more than 50 local workers for positions such as retail associates, managers, shift supervisors, delivery drivers, and bakers. Pan American Group is a wholly-owned subsidiary of California-based Flynn Restaurant Group and owns and operates almost 130 Panera Bread Bakery-Cafes throughout the U.S., including Kansas and Missouri.

Hawaiian Bros


Two brothers who helped operate Hawaiian Time, a quick casual restaurant chain with nine Oregon locations, are rolling into the Kansas City market with a similar concept in Belton, the first of as many as a dozen planned for the metro area.

Cameron McNie and Tyler McNie will open Hawaiian Bros Island Grill, 1112 E. North Ave, in February. The brothers partnered with longtime friends and brothers Paul Worcester and Joel Worcester of Worcester Investments to purchase the 2,800-square foot former home of Long John Silver’s.

Hawaiian Bros will feature Hawaiian-inspired island décor and an all-fresh menu that includes a signature teriyaki chicken dish, Huli Huli Chicken. At about $8.50, the restaurant’s traditional plate lunch includes a main portion of meat, two scoops of white rice, and a scoop of macaroni salad.

Cracker Barrel


The Belton Planning Commission approved Cracker Barrel’s plans to construct a 9,170-square foot restaurant and gift shop in the Cornerstone Pointe development on the southeast corner of 163rd Street and Interstate 49. The store will be Cracker Barrel’s first location in Cass County and its 18th in the state of Missouri.

Construction is expected by begin in November, with an opening by May of 2018. Located adjacent to the Hampton Inn just east of I-49, the restaurant is expected to help attract additional retail activity to the 22-acre Cornerstone Pointe development. Local developer Steve Havens owns the property, which is being marketed by Lane4 Property Group and is master-planned for more than 90,000 square feet of retail and restaurant space.

Fairfield Inn & Suites


The City of Belton approved a new 83-room, four-story Fairfield Inn & Suites located just north of Highway 58 between Mullen Road and Interstate 49.

Salina Hotel Corp. will begin construction by the end of the year on the 48,000- square foot hotel project, with a targeted opening by the end of 2018. The project includes construction of a new east-west access road adjacent to existing retail development to the south. The new road will be constructed with funds from a newly established Community Improvement District.

Cedar Tree

The Cedar Tree shopping center’s $12.9M redevelopment is complete. Previously a neglected area, the shopping center now shines after the revitalization efforts. The upgrades are attracting new businesses that otherwise would not have considered the area, like Brewbakers, a neighborhood family bar and grill.\

Belton Gateway Phase 2

Infrastructure, pad site preparation and road reconstruction for the $63 million Phase Two of Belton Gateway are complete. Kneaders is now open and five new national retailers opened in 2018.


Developed by Christie Development, Belton Gateway is located just west of U.S. 49 Highway along Y Highway. U.S. 49 is a high traffic count interstate with almost 63,000 cars per day, and Y Highway’s traffic count is about 20,000 cars per day.

Belton Gateway Phase 1

The project’s $70 million Phase One included a 58,000 square foot Academy Sports and Outdoors store, 55,000 square foot Hobby Lobby, and two multiple-tenant retail buildings that are home to Belton Family Dental Care, Fazoli’s, and Cricket Wireless. Phase One has potential for construction of a 20,000 square foot hotel.

Menards-1024x682.jpg Menard’s is continuing to thrive. The store remains busy throughout the week and into weekends. We are very proud to have Menard’s as a prime storefront here in Belton. With an initial investment of $7.7 Million Dollars we expect a great deal of traffic to Menards. Menards is housed in a 253K SF building which will serve as a storefront and a warehouse. This growing chain has now created over 200 Jobs in Belton & Surrounding area residents. Menards currently has six outlots for sale.
