Development Review Committee

The development process begins by scheduling a meeting with Development Review Committee. The committee ensures efficient coordination of development services through the effective use of staff time, consistent technical interpretation, and quality decision-making, which is essential to the success of a project. For additional information please see our Development Process Guidebook. The Pre-Application Meeting (DRC) meets weekly on Wednesday’s between 1:30 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. as meetings are requested. Meetings are held in the Belton City Hall Annex at 520 Main St., Belton. A DRC Pre- Application Questionnaire is required to be turned in the Friday prior to your meeting date by 4:30 p.m. to confirm your appointment. To make an appointment, please contact Madison Smith via email or by calling (816) 331-4331.

The DRC is comprised of a cross section of the city’s key staff members who deal with development issues on a daily basis. It generally involves four city departments:

  • Community Planning
  • Building Inspection
  • Engineering
  • Fire

The DRC coordinates development services for the City of Belton. The committee’s mission is to have close contact with project representatives and to work to resolve issues at the earliest stages of development.
