NorthPoint Development will build flex industrial park on former privately held golf course

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

June 13, 2018— Belton, MO— The Belton City Council has approved NorthPoint Development’s $105 million redevelopment plan for the former Southview Golf Course. Groundbreaking for Southview Commerce Center, a 148-acre flex industrial campus just east of Interstate 49 between 155th Street and 162nd Street, is targeted for later this year.

“NorthPoint Development is one of the nation’s leading developers of quality business parks, and the City looks forward to working with the NorthPoint team to bring new advanced manufacturing and logistics jobs to Belton,” said Belton Mayor Jeff Davis. “The former Southview Golf Course has been vacant for more than a decade, and this business park will create new economic opportunities for the City and its residents.”

Southview Commerce Center is master planned for five state-of-the-art buildings ranging from 235,000 to 622,000 square feet, for a total footprint of more than 2 million square feet. The project’s construction timeline will be market driven and based on leasing activity, with facilities designed to accommodate light manufacturing, warehouse and distribution space.

“Southview Commerce Center’s strategic north/south location along Interstate 49 in the heart of the country is a great play for a variety of users,” NorthPoint Vice President of Development Brent Miles said. “Demand continues to be strong for light industrial and warehouse and distribution facilities in the Kansas City market. We are eager to move forward and appreciate the City of Belton’s support throughout the approval process.”

At full buildout, Southview Commerce Center is projected to create an estimated 1,400 jobs with a potential annual wage impact of $58 million, according to NorthPoint.
