Request a Record

Step 1.Submit a Request with the City Form

All requests for City records are required to be in writing. The best way to request a record is to download and fill out the Sunshine Request Form. Please be as specific as possible about the record(s) you are requesting. If the City Clerk has questions, she will contact you.  We suggest including:

  • Contact information - name, email address, phone number, address, etc.
  • Date range for the request - date ranges help us narrow down search results.
  • Key words or key terms - for electronic records, key words and search terms that are overly broad may result in responses that contain thousands of documents.

Email the completed form to the City ClerkYou can also drop it off or mail it to City Hall, 506 Main St, Belton MO 64012

Although a form is preferred, it is not required. The request is still required to be in writing, but you may email your request to the City Clerk. Please be as specific as possible about the record(s) you are requesting. If the City Clerk has questions, she will contact you.

Step 3.Await the City Clerk's response with determination of fees or the record(s) you requested.
