Street Maintenance Worker I

City of Belton (pop. 24,780) is a diverse and aspiring community with exciting challenges. Belton has great potential partially due to its location in the Kansas City region with convenient travel to many key destinations around Kansas City. The APWA-Accredited Public Works Department that is responsible for Water, Wastewater, Streets, Stormwater, and Engineering is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Street Maintenance Worker I that possess great attitude toward public service and the departmental vision.

Duties include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • asphalt & concrete maintenance,
  • ditch & drainage maintenance,
  • snow & ice removal, mowing & weed eating, and
  • use of basic hand tools for general maintenance in the division.

This position is required to perform physical activities necessary to meet the objectives of the day that can range from standing in one place for a prolonged period of time to lifting large, heavy objects and is regularly exposed to dangerous machinery, extreme weather conditions and potential physical harm. Applicants must be able to pass a physical & a drug test and be required to obtain a Class B CDL within 6 months of hire.

Education and Experience: High School Diploma/GED; experience in street maintenance and construction work that includes work with concrete, asphalt, and associated equipment; OR an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.  

Pay Range $13.44 - $18.07 DOQ
