Planning Department

The Planning Department manages land use development through the administration of the Belton Unified Development Code (UDC) and the implementation of the Comprehensive Plan as well as other plans, ordinances, policies, and procedures of the city.

The department also prepares studies that serve to guide future development in the community while maintaining a high level of integrity and customer service.

The Planning Commission is a board appointed by the Mayor with approval from the City Council. This commission is responsible for the development of the Unified Development Code and the Comprehensive Plan(PDF, 107MB). The commission also makes recommendations to the City Council concerning new developments, zoning changes, and text amendments. The Planning Commission is primarily involved in city land use issues.
