Belton's 150th Birthday Celebration

Belton celebrates its 150th birthday on August 27th, 2022! The committee has planned a 5-day celebration packed full of events(PDF, 8MB).

Throughout the event, the 200-500 blocks of Main Street and a portion of Ella Street and Walnut Street will be closed. Please use caution while traveling in the area.

Wednesday, August 24

  • Miss Belton tea party (meet & greet) begins at 6 p.m. at Memorial Station. Miss. Belton contest immediately following Miss. Belton Tea Party.     
  • Children and Pet Parade(PDF, 511KB) begins immediately follow the Miss. Belton contest at Memorial Park

  • Carnival at Memorial Park(PDF, 186KB) from 6-10 p.m. The Belton, Grandview & Kansas City Railroad will act as a shuttle between Main Street and Memorial Park  
  • FREE 150th Celebration tailgate will be held at the BHS home opening football game at Southwick Stadium at 6 p.m.
  • Pregame Time Capsule(PDF, 347KB) Presentation (at the BHS football game) at 6:45 p.m.
  • FREE Cookout on 500 block of Main Street at 6 p.m.
  • FREE Community BINGO on 500 block of Main Street from 7-8 p.m.
  • FREE Bubble party begins at 8 p.m. on 500 block of Main Street
  • FREE Outdoor Movie Screening of Back to the Future on 300 block of Main Street beginning at 8:30 p.m. with Photo Op-DeLorean “Time Machine”.

Saturday, August 27

  • Kicks off with a Carrie Nation 5k at 7:30 a.m. Sign up here!
  • Belton Museum open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
  • 150th Celebration Parade at 10 a.m.
  • Carnival at Memorial Park(PDF, 186KB)  and train rides will continue from 1-5 p.m.  
    • The railroad will operate as a shuttle between Memorial Park and Main Street. $5 round trip (cash or card). You can board at Memorial Park or Main Street.   
  • Festival on Main Street will begin at 1 p.m. with craftsman, artisan vendors & demonstrations, free games, food trucks, contests, live music and more.
  • Fun Zone(PDF, 834KB), 300 block of Main Street from 1-8 p.m.  
  • Parade Awards at Walnut Street Garage at 2 p.m.
  • Live Music - Whiskey Blend, Main Stage from 2-4 p.m.
  • Bubble party begins at 2 p.m. on 500 block of Main Street
  • Battle of the Bakers(PDF, 3MB) will begin at 2:30 p.m. at Tara's Cafe & Malt Shop, 401 Main Street
  • Battle of the Beards(PDF, 5MB) will begin at 3:30 p.m. at Allusions Salon, 421 Main Street
  • Bubble party begins at 4 p.m. on 500 block of Main Street
  • Live Music - Elijah Chastain & Middlecreek, Main Stage beginning at 6:30 p.m.
  • Tate Stevens Meet & Greet at Meet Me on Main (515 Main Street) from 7-8 p.m.
  • Live Music - Tate Stevens, Main Stage at 8:30 p.m.
  • 150th Celebration firework show will follow *Visible from Main Street, Memorial Park & many other locations in Belton

Sunday, August 28

  • Chris Cakes will be serving a pancake breakfast(PDF, 2MB) at Main Street Fire Station from 8-10 a.m.
  • Farmers’ Market from 8 a.m. to noon
    • The Market will be held on Main Street - vendor spots filled on a first-come, first-served basis. More details to come regarding line up timing and location. Registration is required before setting up, but participation is free. Interested in being a vendor
  • Veterans Dedication at 1 p.m., Peace Park
  • Live Music – Frank Drummond, Main Stage from 2-4 p.m.
  • Main Street Cruise Night and Food Trucks on Main Street from 3-7 p.m.
  • FREE Community Ice Cream Social at 4 p.m. at City Hall Annex (520 Main Street)
  • Live Music – Liverpool Legends, Main Stage from 4-6 p.m.
