News Release - City of Belton launches Adopt-A-Stream Program

City of Belton launches Adopt-A-Stream program

BELTON, MO—March 12, 2019— The City of Belton has officially launched Adopt-A-Stream, a Public Works initiative that encourages residents, businesses and service groups to adopt local waterways. The program is designed to protect local streams, beautify surrounding areas and preserve wildlife.

The program's kickoff event has been postponed due to inclement weather. We will provide an update once a rescheduled date has been set. Citizens interested in participating in stream cleanup and or Adopt-A-Stream are invited to gather at the eastern entrance of Cornerstone Development, 16500 Cornerstone Dr. in Belton.

Adopt-A-Stream is open to any resident, local business, civic organization, watershed group, academic institution, or scout group. By adopting a stream segment, volunteers agree to collect nearby trash found and organize periodic cleanups. Organizations are encouraged to select a local stream that they would like to adopt from the Adopt-A-Stream map.
