The Cleveland Regional Lake Project is located adjacent to Cleveland Avenue between W. Sunrise Drive and Cambridge Road.  The project objectives are as follows:

  • Eliminate 100-year flooding of downstream properties, primarily homes along Park Avenue immediately downstream of the proposed lake
  • Control 100-year flooding at Cleveland Avenue
  • Reduce downstream channel erosion
  • Provide a public recreational amenity

The lake’s pool surface area will be approximately 8 acres. A proposed dam running roughly parallel to Cleveland Avenue is an earthen embankment with an average height of approximately 12 feet across the entire length of the dam and a maximum height of 24 feet.  A 5’x10’ concrete box culvert will serve as the primary spillway, or outlet, for the lake.

Additional improvements include water quality and recreational enhancements such as a pedestrian trail, a parking lot, boat ramp, wetland areas, boardwalks, native vegetation and tree establishment, and wildlife habitat areas.

A ribbon cutting ceremony was held on Tuesday, October 22 to officially open our new lake and park!
