Volunteer
Trash Bash Event – June 16, 2007
8:30
am to 12:00 pm
The
Belton/Raymore Trash Bash, is a one day volunteer event to
clean-up our roadways, target areas blighted by litter and
to challenge every citizen to take pride in our community
by controlling the negative effects of ugly litter.
Your
participation is appreciated and needed. Try to get your neighbors,
homeowners associations and other groups together for this
very important event.
The
event will be coordinated from three sites. Volunteering for
this event is simple. Just arrive at the nearest site and
sign in. There is no need to register in advance to volunteer!
Trash-bashers
should plan to wear appropriate clothing. Wearing closed shoes
is a good idea, as is bringing a hat, sunscreen, insect repellant,
gloves and a bright shirt or safety vest.
Please
sign-in and pick-up supplies at any of the three following
sites in Belton starting at 8:30 a.m.:
1.
Guicho`s Mexican Grill and Cantina
(next
to Blockbuster Video)
2.
Social Suppers
17211
S. US Highway 71 (south-east outer road)
3.
Belton Parks & Recreation Community Center
16400
N. Mullen Road (north-east outer road)
After
the clean-up, at 12:00 noon, volunteers will enjoy FREE refreshments
and gifts until they’re gone. We owe a debt of gratitude
to our sponsors, large and small. Without their support, this
event would not be possible. In addition to Keep America Beautiful,
Trash Bash is sponsored by Belton Parks & Recreation,
Social Suppers, Guicho`s Mexican Grill and Cantina, Raymore
Public Works, Belton Hy-Vee, The Belton Vision Team, and the
Missouri Department of Transportation.
Although
the participants will collect litter for only three and a
half hours, the power of their large numbers working together
will become apparent as roadsides, vacant lots and other trash-strewn
areas undergo a transformation. Saturday afternoon, Belton
and Raymore will be more beautiful places!
