Belton Board of Alderman

and Board of Aldermen
The Board of
Aldermen are the elected governing body for the City of Belton.
The Board of Aldermen consists of the Mayor and eight Aldermen.
The Mayor is directly elected at-large (city-wide) for a two-year
term and the Aldermen are elected from four wards for staggered
two-year terms.
Belton is a
Fourth Class City with the Mayor/Board/Administrator form of government.
Belton was the first in the State of Missouri to adopt this form
of government.
Meetings are
held the 2nd and 4th Tuesday of each month at 7:00 p.m. in the Council
Chambers at City Hall. The Aldermen also meet the 1st and 3rd Tuesday
of each month at 7:00 p.m. for a worksession. All meetings are open
to the public in accordance with the State "Open Meetings Law".
However, a closed or executive session may be held to discuss legal
actions, purchase or sale of real estate, hiring, firing, disciplining,
or promotion of personnel. Meetings are posted at City Hall, online,
and on channel 2 the Friday before each meeting.

review during business hours.

*Anyone interested in making a personal appearance at a regular
board meeting should contact the City Clerk's office by Thursday
before the regular scheduled meeting to be placed on the agenda.
