The
City Clerk's office maintains the records of the city. The City
Clerk provides clerical support for the Board of Aldermen.
Responsibilities
of the City Clerk include:
· Preparing, filing, indexing and safekeeping all proceedings
of the Board of Aldermen;
· Recording all ordinances, resolutions, and proclamations
of the city;
· Maintaining all legal notices and documents required by law
or ordinance;
· Keeping and maintaining all election records;
· Maintaining the custody of the official seal of the city;
· Maintaining the records of all deeds, mortgages, contracts,
judgments and debts; notifying the Mayor of the impending expiration
of the term of office of a member of any board or commission;
· Issues and maintains occupation licenses, liquor licenses,
fireworks licenses, and parade permits;
· Administers oath of office to newly elected officials;
· Maintains personnel records and benefit information.
Getting on the Board of Aldermen agenda:
Citizens
who are interested in making a personal appearance before the
Board of Aldermen need to contact the City Clerk's office by Thursday
prior to the regular meeting to be put on the agenda.
Citizens
or organizations interested in having a boot block or a block
party need to make a personal appearance before the Board of Aldermen.
